Where mini sits against a known fill volume
If a specific fill amount is already decided, 1 oz Popcorn Bags, 1.25 oz Popcorn Boxes and 1.5 oz Popcorn Bags are each sized around that specific figure. An event, cinema or takeaway counter ordering a small, individual-portion box without having pinned the exact ounce figure down yet is this page’s actual buyer; the dimensions get confirmed once the portion size is agreed.
Buttered popcorn is wetter than most food-contact packaging expects
Buttered or oil-popped corn puts more grease directly against the board than most snack packaging has to deal with. That’s why a grease-resistant coating, available depending on the specification, earns its place on this format more than it does on plenty of other food boxes. Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. Whichever coating handles that oil load also has a real recycling consequence worth knowing before ordering: it moves the box further from the paperboard streams that most easily accept an uncoated, dry carton. Heat retention runs on a separate decision. A heavier or lined board can hold warmth longer where the application calls for it, and that comes from the construction chosen rather than from board weight by itself.

What size is a mini popcorn box?
It depends on the portion you're serving. Tell us the fill amount you're aiming for and we'll match a size to it, or start from one of the ounce-specific sizes if you already know the figure.
Can I get a lighter coating if the popcorn is dry, not buttered?
Yes. A dry, unbuttered fill doesn't put the same grease load on the board, so it's fair to raise a lighter or uncoated specification at the quote stage instead of defaulting straight to the heaviest grease-resistant option.
Is there one board weight that works for both a hot-held box and a cold snack bar display?
No, and saying which use applies makes a real difference to the quote. A hot-held box benefits from the heat-retention construction described above, while one destined for a cold snack bar or party table doesn't need that same build and can usually run to a lighter standard specification.
Is a grease-resistant popcorn box still recyclable?
An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Once a coated board has actually taken on oil in use, whether your own local service still accepts it varies by area, so it's worth checking rather than assuming either way.
