Sweets are bought to be given at least as often as they are bought to be eaten, so a sweet box does two things at once: it protects what is inside and it makes the thing worth handing over. Which box is right depends less on the sweet than on how it reaches the customer, and that is the place to start.
How the sweets are sold
A box for a retail shelf, a box for a gift and a box for a wedding or seasonal run are three different briefs, even when the sweets inside are identical. A retail box has to catch the eye and stack tidily. A gift box has to feel considered the moment it is opened. A seasonal box carries an occasion and usually changes its artwork year to year, which is what Christmas Sweet Boxes are for. Settling that context first decides most of what follows, from the structure to the finish.
Loose, or held in place
Some sweets sit happily loose in a box. Others mark, stick or slide if they are left to move, and chocolates and soft or coated pieces are the usual culprits. Showing the sweets, and printing the box
With a window, the sweets are visible without the box being opened, which suits pick-and-mix, a gift set or a shelf where the product does its own selling. A window is a clear film patch set into a die-cut opening, and it adds a component that bears on both cost and recycling, so it is a deliberate choice. On print, a run can be a single logo on a plain box or a fully designed wrap, using offset, digital or screen printing to suit the design and the quantity. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method. Food contact, material and recycling
Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. The board and any coating are settled at the specification stage around the specific sweet, since an oily, sugar-dusted or unwrapped confection asks more of the surface it touches than a wrapped one does. An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative, and a foil finish or a film window changes that picture again. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.

The first iterations the boxes were sized wrong, but once we got it figured out and I got the art I requested some samples before moving forward. Do chocolates need an insert, or is a plain box fine?
Chocolates usually earn an insert, and a robust wrapped sweet is generally happy loose. The quick test: would a piece mark or shift on a short journey? If it would, it wants seating.
Can you make small boxes for wedding favours or party bags?
Yes. A small sweet box works for favours and party runs, printed for the occasion. Tell us the rough size and the quantity and the right format follows from that.
Can you match my brand's exact colour?
