Custom Kraft Boxes UK
Create practical product packaging with the natural colour and texture of kraft board. All Custom Packaging produces custom kraft boxes for retailers, food businesses, e-commerce sellers, handmade brands and independent companies across the UK.
Kraft packaging works particularly well with simple logos, botanical artwork and one- or two-colour designs, but it can also support detailed printed branding where the selected material and print method allow.
Every box can be made around the dimensions, weight and intended use of your product. Orders start from 100 units per design, with no setup fees, free design support and a free 3D mockup. You can also approve a video of the physical sample before the full production run. Production normally takes 6 to 8 business days after approval, followed by free UK delivery.
Why Brands Choose Kraft Packaging
Kraft board provides a recognisable natural-brown surface that suits products positioned around handmade production, simplicity, minimalism or reduced-material packaging.
It can be used for:
- Retail product cartons
- Handmade soap and cosmetics
- Bakery and food products
- Gift packaging
- Subscription boxes
- E-commerce deliveries
- Clothing and accessories
- Candles and home fragrance
- Stationery
- Market and farm-shop products
The correct kraft specification depends on the product. A lightweight soap carton does not require the same construction as a corrugated mailer or a box carrying several food items.
Before recommending a structure, we consider:
- Product dimensions
- Packed weight
- Retail or delivery use
- Required food-contact conditions
- Window or insert requirements
- Expected handling
- Printing colours
- Required moisture or grease resistance
- End-of-life priorities
This helps avoid using a heavier or more complex box than the product requires.
Kraft Box Styles We Make
Custom Printed Kraft Boxes
Our Custom Printed Kraft Boxes are produced with your logo, product information and branded artwork printed directly onto brown kraft board.
Printed kraft packaging is suitable for:
- Skincare and cosmetics
- Handmade products
- Soap
- Candles
- Jewellery
- Clothing accessories
- Bakery products
- Gifts
- Subscription items
- Small retail products
Available box structures can include tuck-end cartons, sleeves, auto-lock bases, two-piece boxes and folding mailer formats.
The natural board colour remains visible around the artwork, so it should be treated as part of the design rather than as a neutral white background.
Kraft Window Boxes
Our Kraft Paper Boxes With Window combine natural brown board with a die-cut opening that allows customers to see the product.
Windowed kraft boxes can be used for:
- Soap
- Candles
- Bakery products
- Confectionery
- Clothing accessories
- Gifts
- Handmade crafts
- Small retail products
The window can remain as an open cut-out for suitable products or be fitted with a clear film where a covered opening is required.
Its size and position should reveal the most useful part of the product without removing too much material from the box structure.
Clear-Lid Boxes with Kraft Bases
Our Clear Lid Boxes With Kraft Base provide a wider view of the contents than a small die-cut window.
They are suitable for:
- Gift sets
- Confectionery selections
- Bakery products
- Product collections
- Event favours
- Retail presentation
- Handmade items
The clear lid and kraft base should be treated as separate material components when disposal guidance is prepared. The ability to recycle each part depends on the selected materials and the customer’s local collection service.
Round Kraft Boxes
Our Round Shape Brown Paper Boxes provide a cylinder-style alternative to conventional square and rectangular cartons.
Round kraft packaging can be used for:
- Candles
- Bottles
- Small gifts
- Confectionery
- Tea and dry products
- Clothing accessories
- Cosmetics
- Promotional products
Cylinder packaging can include separate lids, printed wraps, foil details and internal supports.
The internal diameter and height should be planned around the product so it does not move excessively inside the tube.
Kraft Soap Boxes
Our Kraft Soap Boxes can be produced for individual bars, gift sets and handmade soap ranges.
Available options can include:
- Tuck-end cartons
- Sleeves
- Window boxes
- Display cartons
- Die-cut soap shapes
- Printed ingredient panels
- Product-information labels
The box should be sized around the cured soap dimensions rather than the mould size, particularly where handmade bars vary slightly between batches.
Kraft soap packaging can also be coordinated with your wider Soap Boxes range.
Kraft Cupcake Boxes
Our Kraft Brown Cupcake Boxes can be produced for individual cupcakes, small sets and larger bakery orders.
Options can include:
- Clear windows
- Cupcake inserts
- Carry handles
- Locking tabs
- Printed bakery branding
- Product labels
- Disposal guidance
Where food directly touches the box, insert or liner, the complete material specification must be suitable for the intended food-contact conditions.
Kraft Mailer Boxes
Kraft board is also available across our Custom Mailer Boxes range.
Corrugated kraft mailers provide more structural support than lightweight folding cartonboard and are suitable for:
- E-commerce orders
- Subscription products
- Clothing
- Gifts
- Books and stationery
- Cosmetics
- Handmade items
- Product launch kits
The boxes can be printed outside, inside or on both surfaces, depending on the required design.
Kraft Paper Bags
Complete your retail or takeaway presentation with matching Paper Bags.
Using similar kraft shades, logos and typography across boxes and bags can help the complete packaging range follow one consistent visual direction.
Choosing the Right Kraft Construction
“Kraft” describes the appearance and fibre-based material, but it does not describe one single box strength.
Folding Kraft Cartonboard
Folding kraft cartonboard is suitable for lightweight retail products.
It provides:
- A smooth printable surface
- Efficient flat storage
- Quick assembly
- Tuck-end closures
- Window and sleeve options
- Lower packaging weight
It is commonly used for soap, cosmetics, stationery, small gifts and lightweight food products where the material is suitable.
Corrugated Kraft Board
Corrugated board contains a fluted layer between flat liners, providing greater strength for storage and delivery.
It is suitable for:
- Mailer boxes
- Shipping cartons
- Subscription boxes
- Multi-product orders
- Larger products
- E-commerce packaging
Single-wall corrugated board is suitable for many everyday products, while heavier or more fragile items may need a stronger grade.
Rigid Kraft Packaging
Rigid boxes can be wrapped in kraft paper to combine a natural finish with a more substantial construction.
They are suitable for:
- Premium gifts
- Corporate presentation
- Luxury food products
- Candles
- Jewellery
- Product launch sets
- Limited-edition ranges
Rigid packaging uses more material and is heavier than an ordinary folding carton, so it should be selected where the product and presentation justify it.
Bespoke Sizes for a Better Fit
A kraft box should be made around the product rather than selected only because its external size appears close enough.
An oversized box can:
- Allow the product to move
- Require additional filling
- Use unnecessary material
- Increase storage space
- Affect postal dimensions
- Create a less organised presentation
A box that is too small can compress the product or leave insufficient room for inserts and protective wrapping.
When requesting a quotation, provide:
- Product length
- Product width
- Product height
- Packed weight
- Quantity per box
- Insert or divider requirements
- Retail or postal use
- Whether dimensions include wrapping
We use the complete packed arrangement to develop the internal size.
What Recycles and What Composts?
Environmental claims should be based on the complete finished box rather than the word “kraft” alone.
| Kraft Specification | Practical End-of-Life Guidance |
|---|---|
| Unlaminated kraft with compatible printing | Commonly suitable for paper and card recycling when clean, dry and accepted by the local collection service |
| Kraft box with a removable PET window | The kraft section may be recycled with paper and card after the window is removed; the film should follow the relevant local plastics guidance |
| Kraft with plastic lamination | May not be accepted in ordinary paper and card collections; suitability depends on the laminate, material ratio and available recycling process |
| Kraft with foil or extensive decorative additions | Foil, glitter, labels and mixed-material finishes can affect collection or recycling; the final structure should be assessed before claims are printed |
| Food-contaminated kraft | Heavy grease, food residue and moisture can prevent acceptance in paper recycling |
| Certified compostable packaging | Should only be described as compostable where the complete pack is certified for the claimed process and an appropriate collection or composting route exists |
WRAP’s workplace guidance lists laminated paper and paper containing foil among materials that are generally excluded from standard paper and card collections. Compostable items should also be checked with the waste provider, even when they carry a recognised industrial-composting certification. on, we do not automatically describe every kraft box as recyclable, biodegradable or compostable. The appropriate claim depends on the board, inks, adhesives, window, lamination, inserts and intended disposal route.
Kraft Packaging and UK EPR
Under the UK packaging Extended Producer Responsibility system, liable large producers supplying household packaging must assess relevant packaging using the Recyclability Assessment Methodology. Packaging receives a red, amber or green recyclability rating, and those ratings affect disposal-fee modulation. ulated disposal fees apply to the 2026–2027 financial year. More recyclable formats can receive a lower fee than the amber base rate, while red-rated formats are charged more. mean that every unlaminated kraft box automatically receives the lowest fee. The rating depends on the complete packaging specification and current RAM requirements.
However, avoiding unnecessary mixed materials can make a design easier to assess and simpler for customers to separate. Where practical, we can help reduce complexity by considering:
- Unlaminated board
- Minimal material combinations
- Removable windows
- Paper-based inserts
- Lighter suitable board grades
- Clearly printed disposal instructions
- Decorative finishes only where needed
The lightest suitable grade should still provide enough protection for the product. Reducing board strength below the level required can lead to product damage and waste, which is not an effective packaging outcome.
Printing on Natural Kraft Board
Kraft board has a warm brown base, so ink colours do not appear exactly as they would on white paperboard.
Printing options can include:
One-Colour Printing
Black or another dark ink creates a clear, simple appearance and is often the most economical option for minimalist branding.
Two-Colour Printing
Two-colour designs can add more visual identity while retaining the natural kraft surface as part of the artwork.
Full-Colour Printing
Full CMYK printing is available for more detailed artwork, although the brown board influences lighter and more transparent colours.
White Ink
White ink can create contrast on dark or natural kraft materials and can also be printed beneath selected colours to improve their brightness.
Pantone Colour Matching
Pantone references can be used to achieve closer consistency with your brand, but the kraft base and print method may affect the final appearance.
The physical sample allows you to review how your colours and artwork perform on the selected board before full production.
Printing and Finishing Options
Available options can include:
Matt Finish Creates a softer, low-reflection surface while retaining a restrained appearance.
Gloss Finish Adds shine and can make printed areas appear brighter, but may change the recycling profile where a plastic laminate is used.
Spot UV Adds a glossy highlight to selected logos or design details.
Foil Stamping Applies metallic foil to logos, borders and product names.
Embossing and Debossing Raises or presses selected artwork to add texture.
Die-Cut Windows Display the product while retaining the natural kraft frame around it.
Decorative processes should be selected according to the product, desired appearance and end-of-life goals rather than applying every available finish to one box.
Kraft Boxes for Food Products
Kraft board is widely used for bakery, takeaway, confectionery and dry-food packaging, but the natural appearance alone does not confirm food-contact suitability.
Where food touches the packaging directly, the complete specification should consider:
- Food-contact-suitable board
- Appropriate inks
- Adhesives
- Grease resistance
- Moisture resistance
- Window and liner materials
- Product temperature
- Contact duration
Oily, moist or soft foods may require a suitable liner, coating or primary wrap.
The food business remains responsible for confirming that the final materials, labelling and claims meet the requirements for its product.
Coordinate a Complete Kraft Packaging Range
Kraft grades can be used across several All Custom Packaging ranges, including:
- Custom Mailer Boxes
- Soap Boxes
- Paper Bags
- Food cartons
- Product sleeves
- Gift packaging
- Branded labels
- Cardboard inserts
Using similar kraft shades and print references creates a consistent material story across retail packaging, bags and e-commerce orders.
Exact colours can vary between paper mills and material grades, so samples should be compared where close consistency is important.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are kraft boxes?
Kraft boxes are paperboard or corrugated packaging formats produced with a natural brown kraft surface. They can be printed, die-cut and made in bespoke sizes.
Can kraft boxes be printed in full colour?
Yes. Full-colour printing is available, but the natural brown surface influences how colours appear. White ink may be used beneath selected artwork where greater brightness is needed.
Are custom sizes available?
Yes. Boxes can be made around the product dimensions, packed weight and any inserts or wrapping placed inside.
Are all kraft boxes recyclable?
No claim should be made solely because a box is brown kraft. Recyclability depends on laminations, windows, foil, adhesives, coatings, contamination and local collection services.
Are kraft boxes compostable?
Only packaging confirmed and certified for the relevant composting process should be described as compostable. Customers or businesses should also check whether an appropriate collection route is available.
Can a kraft box with a plastic window be recycled?
The board may be recyclable after the film has been removed, depending on the final construction and local collection rules. Disposal instructions can be printed onto the packaging.
Are laminated kraft boxes recyclable?
Plastic lamination can make paperboard more difficult to recycle and may prevent acceptance in standard paper collections. The exact result depends on the laminate and recycling system.
Can kraft boxes be used for food?
Yes, where the board, inks, adhesives, coatings and any liners are suitable for the intended food-contact conditions.
Are kraft mailer boxes available?
Yes. Corrugated kraft mailers can be made for e-commerce, subscription products and customer-facing deliveries.
Can inserts be added?
Yes. Paperboard, corrugated and other suitable inserts can be developed around the product to reduce movement and improve presentation.
Can I order kraft boxes with a clear lid?
Yes. Clear-lid boxes with kraft bases can be produced for gift, bakery, confectionery and retail presentation.
