A pie box has one real job before anything else: hold a soft, often warm, often filled pie steady so it reaches the customer looking the way it left the counter. The right box is the one built around your actual pie, not a size close to it. This range covers the whole span, and the quickest way through it is to start with the pie itself.
Start with the pie, not the box
The form of the pie decides most of the choice. A whole pie wants a box sized close to its diameter and depth so it neither slides nor gets crushed, and the sized options run from small through to the larger squares. A single slice needs a wedge that holds one portion upright rather than letting it tip, which is what Pie Slice Boxes are cut for. Individual and mini pies suit a small footprint, and where the bake is worth showing, Mini Pie Boxes With Window put it on display before the lid is lifted. A seasonal run of mince pies is its own annual job, handled by Mince Pie Boxes. Naming the form first narrows the range to a handful of boxes instead of all of it.
Getting the size right
A pie that moves inside its box is a pie that arrives marked, so internal size matters more than it looks. The sized boxes exist for exactly this: 5 inch pie boxes for a small individual pie, 9x9x3 Pie Boxes for a standard deep pie, and 10x10 pie boxes or 12x12 Pie Boxes for a larger or family pie. If your pie sits between two of these, measure it at its widest and its deepest, and the closest fit is the one to quote. The board grade and its thickness are chosen to suit the pie's size, weight and the handling it faces, not fixed ahead of the order. Showing the pie, or keeping it covered
A window is a die-cut opening covered with a clear film patch, and it earns its place where the pie is doing the selling: a bakery counter, a farm shop shelf, a gift. A fully closed box suits a plain wholesale line or a pie that travels before it is seen. A window adds a film component, which affects both cost and recycling, so it is worth choosing deliberately. Where display is the point, start from the mini window option above; where it is not, a closed box keeps things simpler.
Printing and finishing a pie box
Print runs from a single logo through to a fully designed box, using offset, digital or screen printing selected to suit the design and quantity. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method. A kraft board's brown base softens printed colour, pale tones most of all, so a bakery leaning on a natural look should expect a quieter print than on a white coated board. The surface can be laminated matt or gloss, with a foil, an emboss or a spot-UV highlight added on top, and what each order can take is set by the board, the style, the run size and the printing method. Food contact, material and recycling
Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. The material and any coating are chosen at the specification stage around the pie itself, since a warm, buttery or wet-filled pie asks more of the surface it sits against than a dry one does. An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative, and a film window changes that picture again. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.

What if none of the standard sizes fit my pie?
Then the box is die-cut to your pie's own measurements instead of forced to the nearest stock size. Describe the pie, or send one in to measure, and the dieline is built around it.
Can I get a window so customers see the pie?
Yes. It suits a counter or a gift, where the pie sells itself before the lid is lifted. The mini pie box comes with a window as standard; on other sizes it is added at quote stage, and it does affect cost and recycling.
Do you print small runs, or only bulk?
Small runs are the norm here, not the exception. Orders start from 100 units. A run can be a single logo or a full custom design, whichever the budget suits.
Are these boxes food-safe and grease-proof?
Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. The right surface for a buttery or wet-filled pie is chosen at the specification stage. We do not attach a grease or barrier rating to a box. Confirming any information printed on the pack remains your business's responsibility, or that of its regulatory adviser.
