A carrier does one job: it lets a person lift several things at once and get them to the table, the car or the customer in one trip. Which carrier you need follows from three answers: what you are carrying, how many at a time, and whether someone has to walk with it.
Carrying cups
Hot drinks are the hardest thing to carry, because a full cup tips easily and a lid only stays put if the cup stays upright. A cup carrier gives each cup its own compartment so the set travels level. A 2 Cup Carrier Tray handles a pair for a short walk from the counter. For more cups or a longer carry, a Portable Cup Carrier or a Paper Coffee Cup Carrier With Handle adds a handle to lift the whole set together. The Takeaway Coffee Cup Carrier does the same for a counter that turns over a lot of takeaway orders. The cups themselves are a separate order on Custom Paper Cups; the carrier is what holds them.
Carrying bottles
Bottles need keeping apart so they do not knock together in transit, which is what the dividers in a bottle carrier do. The count sets the format: a 4 Bottle Cardboard Carrier or a 6 Bottle Cardboard Carrier for a multipack, and a Cardboard Bottle Carrier or Bottle Carrier Boxes for other counts. A broader run of drinks is covered by Custom Beverage Carrier Boxes. The board is chosen around the filled weight and the carry, since a loaded six-pack asks more of a handle than a pair does.
A carrier for something else
Not every carrier is for drinks. Poultry Carrier Boxes carry a bird from the counter, and a Cat Carrier Cardboard Box is a lightweight cardboard carry box for a short trip to the vet. Each is die-cut for what it holds rather than adapted from a drinks carrier.
Choosing the format
Two things separate one carrier from another: how it is lifted, and how many it holds. A flat tray sits steady on a hand or a counter for a short move and stacks neatly behind the till. A handled carrier is built to be walked with, so it suits a run out to a car or across a busy room. The count then narrows it further, because a pair, a four and a six each take a different divider layout to keep every item in its own place. Settle the lift and the count first, and the product that fits becomes obvious. If the load is heavier or the walk is longer, that is a reason to move up to a handled format rather than a tray, since the handle carries the weight the hand would otherwise take.
Printing, food contact and ordering
The compartments and the carry handle are die-cut into the board, and the surface is printed from a single logo to a full design, in offset, digital or screen printing to suit the run. A carrier is one of the few packs a customer holds in full view while walking through a venue or down a street. A logo printed on it is seen far more than one on a box that goes straight into a bag. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method. Several of these carriers hold food directly. Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. UK delivery is free. There are no setup fees. An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.

The first iterations the boxes were sized wrong, but once we got it figured out and I got the art I requested some samples before moving forward. They printed off some samples, and they were great minus a slight adjustment to the perforation. They made the adjustment and got the final order out and so far I am pleased with the quality, especially for the price. Can I get a count or size that is not a standard 2, 4 or 6?
Yes. Two, four and six are the common counts, but the compartments are die-cut, so an unusual count, a taller bottle or a wider cup can be cut to rather than forced into a stock size. Send the item and how many travel together, and the layout is built around it.
Does the carrier have a handle?
The carry formats have a handle die-cut into the board so the whole set lifts as one, and the flat tray formats sit steady for a short carry from the counter. Which suits depends on how far it has to go.
Do the cups or bottles come with the carrier?
No. The carrier holds them, and the drinks are ordered separately; for the cups themselves, Custom Paper Cups is the place, and bottles are supplied by you.
