Coffee packaging is really two jobs, and most pages blur them. There is the box the coffee ships or sells in, and there is the bag the beans actually sit in. They are chosen separately, and plenty of roasters use both, so the quickest way in is to say which job you are solving first.
The box the coffee ships and sells in
A printed box does the shipping and the shelf presence. For a subscription or an online order, Coffee Shipping Boxes take the knocks of a courier run and put your brand on the doorstep. The board grade is chosen around the weight of the filled order and the journey it makes. For a wider set of shipping formats beyond coffee, Custom Shipping Boxes holds the range. A box also works as the outer for a retail gift set or a multi-bag pack, printed to match the bags inside it.
The bag the beans sit in
The bag is the part that touches the coffee. Black Kraft Coffee Bags give a printed kraft bag for retail, with your roastery branding on a natural kraft face. Where the coffee needs a higher barrier, a foil bag is a different construction, and that is what Mylar Bags are for. The barrier level, and any valve or closure a bag carries, is a specification decided per bag, so it is settled at quote stage rather than assumed here.
Printing and finishing
Print runs from a single roastery logo to a full design, in offset, digital or screen printing to suit the design and the quantity. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method. A natural kraft face gives coffee its familiar warm look, and it will read a printed colour more softly than a white coated board does. The box can be laminated matt or gloss, with foil stamping or a spot-UV highlight added depending on the specification.
Food contact, material and recycling
Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative, and a foil bag or laminate changes that picture. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.

Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about ordering, artwork, production, materials and delivery.
Box, bag, or both for coffee?
Often both. The bag holds and protects the beans, and the box ships the order or presents a gift set and multi-bag pack. Start with the bag the coffee sits in, then decide if a box goes around it.
Do your coffee bags have a one-way valve or a foil barrier?
The barrier and any valve are decided per bag rather than assumed. A printed kraft bag is one option; where a higher foil barrier is the point, that is a Mylar Bags construction, and the exact build is confirmed at quote stage.
Can you print my roastery branding across the packaging?
Yes. Offset, digital or screen printing carries a single logo through to a full design, and design support prepares your artwork for the box or bag at no charge.
Is the packaging food-safe for coffee?
Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. Confirming any information printed on the pack remains your business's responsibility, or that of its adviser.
What is the minimum order for coffee packaging?
Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free.
