Why UK bakeries order cake boxes from All Custom Packaging
All Custom Packaging produces custom cake boxes in the UK from 100 units per design, with production in 6-8 business days after design approval and free delivery anywhere in the UK. There are no setup fees, and you approve a video of your physical sample before the full run is printed.
That last part matters more for cake boxes than for almost any other packaging. A box that is 5mm too shallow ruins a buttercream finish, so we check the fit with you before printing hundreds of units. Our design team builds the dieline around your tin sizes, not the other way round.
You also deal with one supplier for the whole job. Boxes, window film, inserts and matching tissue paper can all ship together in one order.
Food-safe materials for cake packaging
Every cake box we print is made from food-grade board. The three stocks we use most for bakery work:
| Material | Best for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| SBS (solid bleached sulphate) board | Celebration cakes, cupcakes, patisserie | Bright white surface that holds sharp, vivid print |
| Natural brown kraft | Artisan and farm-shop bakeries | Recyclable, uncoated look that suits rustic branding |
| E-flute corrugated | Tiered and heavy cakes, transport boxes | Extra crush strength without much added weight |
Greaseproof lining is available for high-butter bakes, and window patching uses food-safe PET film so the cake stays sealed while it is on display.
Styles of cake box we manufacture
Most bakery orders fall into one of five styles. All of them can be made plain, printed in full colour, or finished with foil.
Windowed cake boxes. A clear panel on the lid or front sells the cake before the box is opened. See Square Cake Boxes With Window and 10 Inch Cake Boxes With Window.
Cupcake boxes with inserts. Die-cut dividers hold 1, 2, 4, 6 or 12 cupcakes so they arrive upright. Start with Cupcake Boxes With Dividers or Single Cupcake Boxes.
Cake slice boxes. Single-portion boxes for counters, cafés and wedding favours. See Individual Cake Slice Boxes.
Wedding cake boxes. Larger footprints, stronger board and finishes such as foil and lace-effect laser cutting. See Wedding Cake Boxes and Laser Cut Wedding Cake Boxes.
Takeaway cake boxes. Fast-assembly lock-corner boxes for high-volume counters. See Takeaway Cake Boxes.
Standard cake box sizes
We cut every box to order, so any size is possible. These are the most requested footprints:
| Size | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 6 x 6 x 4" | Small celebration cakes |
| 8 x 8 x 5" | Standard round cakes (8x8x5 Cake Box With Window) |
| 10 x 10 x 6" | Large single-tier cakes (10x10 Cake Boxes) |
| 12 x 12 x 6" | Two-tier and party cakes (12 x 12 Cake Boxes) |
| 14 x 14 x 8" and up | Wedding tiers, made to measure |
Deeper lids, extended heights for tall cakes and loaf formats such as Cardboard Loaf Cake Boxes are all available on the same 100-unit minimum.
Printing and finishing options
Cake boxes are printed in full CMYK or matched to your exact Pantone brand colours, using digital print for shorter runs and offset for larger ones. Finishes that work well on bakery packaging:
- Matt or gloss lamination for wipe-clean lids
- Hot foil stamping in gold, silver or rose gold for wedding and luxury ranges, as on our Luxury Cake Boxes
- Embossed logos for a raised, tactile finish
- Spot UV to make a logo or pattern shine against a matt background
If you are unsure what will suit your brand, send us your logo. Design help and the 3D mockup cost nothing, so you can see the finished box before you commit.
