Takeaway burgers spend longer in their box than burgers eaten at the counter. The box is picked up, put in a bag, carried and sometimes driven across town before anyone opens it, so the lid and the space under it matter more.
A lid that locks
On a clamshell the lid folds down over the base at the front. A lid that only rests closed can lift open when the box is picked up by the lid or tipped over in a bag. A tab-lock closure, with tabs that slot into the walls of the base, is available for exactly this. Whatever the closure, the customer has to be able to open it with one hand, often while holding a drink, so mention how the box will be opened when you order.
Room above the burger
Takeaway menus tend to build tall: double patties, a heap of toppings, a high bun. If the lid closes onto the top of the bun, it presses on the burger every time the box is handled. Size the box from the tallest burger on the menu, fully built, with a small gap above it. One deep box for the whole menu is simpler to stock, though a short burger has more room to slide in it; two depths suit a menu with both tall and low burgers.
Kept level
A built burger is meant to stay the right way up, so the box needs a flat base that sits square in a delivery bag.
Chips, board and size
Where chips share the box, Burger and Chip Boxes separates them from the burger with a divider and vents the chip side. Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. On white board both the print and any grease show clearly; see White Burger Boxes for a white box eaten from. Kraft Burger Boxes give a natural brown finish. Sliders and kids’ burgers go in Mini Burger Boxes.
The box can be printed outside, and a logo can also go inside the lid. Printing can be offset, digital or screen, decided by the artwork and the size of the run.

I was assisted by Frank. Overall I had a satisfactory experience, and in the end my boxes turned out really nice. The stock is nice, and Frank was really helpful getting them where they needed to be. The first iterations the boxes were sized wrong, but once we got it figured out and I got the art I requested some samples before moving forward. They printed off some samples, and they were great minus a slight adjustment to the perforation. They made the adjustment and got the final order out and so far I am pleased with the quality, especially for the price. The only thing that would have bumped this up to a 5 star review would have been a little bit quicker overall experience, part of which was my fault.

Our experience with ACP UK was overall good. They were able to work with our extremely tight timeline and were very responsive and communicative. I will say that there were some things about our final product that we were not happy with, such as creasing of the graphics and images were not full bleed on the cover of our boxes like they were supposed to be. ACP UK was not able to fix the problems on the boxes due to our tight timeline, so we ended up with a product that were were a little less than satisfied with. They offered us a discount on our next order. I think their pricing overall was fair and competitive. We may use them on project in the future again if we are able to see an image of the boxes before they go into full production like we were told that they would do last time.
