A flat-pack box is supplied unassembled and put together when you need it, which is the part almost every listing for this product leads with. What gets skipped far more often, and what actually changes from order to order, is which fold-and-lock construction genuinely fits how you’re packing.
Tuck-end or auto-lock: a real choice, not just two names
A tuck-end closure folds shut on its own flaps, no tape needed for a light, occasional pack. An auto-lock base does more work: the base locks into shape the moment the sides fold up, holding its shape under weight without tape or glue. That difference matters more the more often you’re packing. Doing it a handful of times by hand, tuck-end is simpler and cheaper. Running repeat volume, or packing anything with real weight to it, an auto-lock base earns its place by being faster to close and by actually holding that weight on its own.
Choosing the board underneath the closure
Board choice sits alongside the closure decision: whichever closure you pick, paperboard, kraft and corrugated are all workable choices underneath it, sized to your specification. Offset, digital and screen printing all apply. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method. Matt and gloss lamination, foil stamping, embossing, debossing and spot UV are all available finishes.
Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. There are no setup fees. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free.

Our experience with ACP UK was overall good. They were able to work with our extremely tight timeline and were very responsive and communicative. I will say that there were some things about our final product that we were not happy with, such as creasing of the graphics and images were not full bleed on the cover of our boxes like they were supposed to be. ACP UK was not able to fix the problems on the boxes due to our tight timeline, so we ended up with a product that were were a little less than satisfied with. They offered us a discount on our next order. I think their pricing overall was fair and competitive. We may use them on project in the future again if we are able to see an image of the boxes before they go into full production like we were told that they would do last time.

Can I order tuck-end for most of a run and auto-lock for a heavier batch within it?
Yes. The closure is part of the specification, not a fixed property of the box size or design, so a single order can be split between the two if your packing genuinely varies. Tell us the split roughly and each portion gets built to the closure that suits it.
Does flat-pack construction need tape to assemble?
A tuck-end closure is designed to hold without it for a light load, though tape is a reasonable extra for anything heavier or being shipped further. An auto-lock base is built specifically to avoid needing tape at all, whatever the closure ends up carrying.
What is the minimum order for Flat Pack Cardboard Boxes?
Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval.
Are these boxes recyclable?
An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.
