A transparent finishing layer available in gloss, satin, or matte effects. It enhances the printed surface and adds an extra layer of visual appeal and light protection.
A paper-wrapped rigid construction, and what that specific material choice actually gives you. Orders start from 100 units.
Rigid packaging isn’t always paper. A rigid container can just as easily be metal, wood or moulded plastic, and comparing those against a paper-wrapped board construction is worth doing before the closure, size or finish is even decided.
A paper-wrapped rigid board takes print, foil and embossing far more readily than a metal tin or a moulded plastic case, and at a fraction of the tooling cost. A metal or plastic container usually needs an extra labelling or wrapping step instead, rather than direct decoration of the material itself. Paper is also considerably lighter than an equivalent metal or wooden container, which matters both for shipping cost and for the heft a product carries the instant someone lifts it. Where the packaging eventually needs to go somewhere after use, an unlaminated paperboard construction is generally kinder to a standard household recycling collection than a metal-lined case or a mixed-material plastic shell, neither of which processes the same simple way.
None of this makes paper the universal answer. A genuinely liquid-tight container, or one that has to survive repeated heavy impact, still leans towards metal or a rigid moulded material for reasons paper construction doesn’t remove. Paper earns its place for presentation, branding and everyday product protection rather than extreme mechanical demands, and that boundary is worth naming honestly before a specification is locked in.
For a product where a paper-wrapped rigid box is genuinely the right fit, the remaining specification (opening mechanism, dimensions, surface treatment) is Rigid Boxes‘s own territory to work through.
This construction takes offset, digital and screen printing. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method. Orders start from 100 units. Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. There are no setup fees. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free.
Food specifically, where the real decision is rigid board against a folding carton rather than paper against another rigid material entirely, is Rigid Food Packaging. A genuinely liquid-tight or heavy-impact requirement sits outside what any paper-based construction is built to solve.

No. A foiled, embossed or soft-touch-finished paper wrap reads as premium in much the same way a metal or wood-look container does, since the sense of quality comes largely from the finish and print rather than the base material alone. Material and premium feel are separate decisions, and one doesn't force a compromise on the other.
For everyday product protection and presentation, yes. For something genuinely liquid-tight or built to survive repeated heavy impact, a metal or moulded rigid material is usually the better structural fit, so naming that requirement upfront saves specifying the wrong construction.
No, if anything it opens more of them. A foiled logo, a raised texture or a gloss-versus-matte contrast all sit directly on a paper wrap, something bare metal or plastic can't take without an extra material layer added first.
An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.
