For a long item slid in along its length, an opening at the end and a wall stiff enough over that span are the reasoning behind Long Cardboard Box 1200mm. At a metre, a box that opens along its top is the other choice, with width and depth made to the item either way.
Top opening or end opening
An end-opening box closes with flaps at its short ends, so the item slides in along the box. A top-opening box has its flaps along the top, running the full metre, so the item is laid in from above and lifted straight out, like an ordinary carton drawn out long. Laying in suits items that would catch or rub if slid: a rolled rug or blind, or a piece with a painted finish. It also lets several long items be placed side by side and packed around before the flaps close.
When the end opening wins
A rigid item that fills most of the box’s cross-section is hard to lower into a snug top-opening box, because there is no room for fingers down the sides and nothing to grip when lifting it out. Slid in from the end, the same item goes in and comes out without that space, so the box can stay close around it. Single poles or rails are typical of this case.
Board and print
The board grade is chosen around the weight of the filled product and how far it travels. Offset, digital and screen printing are all used on the long side walls, with the method matched to the artwork and the run length.

What is the minimum order for 1 metre long cardboard boxes?
Orders start from 100 units.
Can handling marks be printed on the boxes?
Yes. Way-up arrows and a fragile warning repeated along each long wall stay visible whichever side the box is lying on.
Are 1 metre long cardboard boxes recyclable?
An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally. We can explain the general recyclability considerations of the selected material and finishing options, so you can make accurate claims on your own packaging.
