A business card box has one of two jobs. It either carries a stack of cards from one place to another, or it sits somewhere and hands cards out. Our own range shows both, and they are built differently, so the useful first step is saying which one yours is doing.
A box that carries the stack
The carrying box is closed. The cards lie flat, one on top of another, and a lid comes down over them, hinged along one edge and held shut with a tuck flap. This is the box a print shop sends a finished order out in, and the one a business keeps its supply in, in a drawer or a bag. Its work is keeping the stack square and stopping the corners of the cards catching on whatever else is in the drawer or the bag. The lid top is the face people see first when the box is handed over.
A holder that gives cards out
The holder is open at the front. The cards stand on their long edge, and the front panel is cut down so the front card shows and can be slid out with a thumb. It lives on a desk, a reception counter or a stand at a trade show, and it is refilled rather than thrown away. How low to cut the front is a balance between showing the card and holding the stack as it empties, the same balance worked through for counter displays under retail display boxes. What is particular to a card holder is the panel behind the cards: it comes into view as the stack goes down, so it is worth printing too.
Whose name goes on the box
A print shop ordering boxes for its customers’ cards has a choice a single business does not. Boxes carrying the shop’s own name suit every order it sends out, so one design covers them all. Boxes carrying each customer’s branding make the handover feel like part of that customer’s order, but each customer’s box is then a design of its own, and each design has its own minimum. A shop can run both: its own name for everyday orders, and customer branding for the clients who ask for it.
Card size
Most UK business cards share one standard size, including those with rounded corners. A square card or anything larger needs its own box, so measure one before you ask.
Board and print
The box is a folding cardboard carton, and your logo or artwork prints on the outside, with the inside available as well. A plain brown kraft board suits a natural look, and it is covered under kraft business card boxes. A white board printed edge to edge is the route in custom printed business card boxes. Our experience with ACP UK was overall good. They were able to work with our extremely tight timeline and were very responsive and communicative. I will say that there were some things about our final product that we were not happy with, such as creasing of the graphics and images were not full bleed on the cover of our boxes like they were supposed to be. ACP UK was not able to fix the problems on the boxes due to our tight timeline, so we ended up with a product that were were a little less than satisfied with. They offered us a discount on our next order. I think their pricing overall was fair and competitive. We may use them on project in the future again if we are able to see an image of the boxes before they go into full production like we were told that they would do last time.

I was assisted by Frank. Overall I had a satisfactory experience, and in the end my boxes turned out really nice. The stock is nice, and Frank was really helpful getting them where they needed to be. The first iterations the boxes were sized wrong, but once we got it figured out and I got the art I requested some samples before moving forward. They printed off some samples, and they were great minus a slight adjustment to the perforation. They made the adjustment and got the final order out and so far I am pleased with the quality, especially for the price. The only thing that would have bumped this up to a 5 star review would have been a little bit quicker overall experience, part of which was my fault.

What is the minimum order for Cardboard Business Card Boxes?
Orders start from 100 units. A closed box and a holder are two different designs, so an order for both needs 100 of each.
How many cards does one box hold?
As many as it is drawn for. Tell us the number of cards you pack, or the number you want a holder to take, and the card stock, and the box is sized to that.
Are Cardboard Business Card Boxes recyclable?
An unlaminated cardboard box may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a laminated one. A foil logo or a film finish on the lid changes that answer. We can explain the general recyclability considerations of the selected material and finishing options, so you can make accurate claims on your own packaging.
What does the price include, and how long does an order take?
Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. There are no setup fees. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free.
