A rigid box’s board is wrapped in a separately printed sheet of paper, glued around the shape rather than printed directly onto it. That sheet has a seam where it overlaps itself and a fold at every corner, both fixed points of the build rather than choices the artwork makes.
What full coverage changes about the wrap
A kraft wrap or a single flat colour has nothing running through the seam or the corners that could misalign, so neither has to plan around them. Once the design covers the whole box, a line of text, a pattern or a colour block has to survive being folded around a corner. It must also survive being interrupted where the wrap overlaps itself, so the layout is planned with those points in mind from the start rather than fitted afterwards. As general practice, the seam sits at whichever edge is chosen to draw the least attention, such as the base or a back corner. A design that reads continuously across the front and sides is drawn to land there deliberately, rather than by chance.
Registration near the edges
Foil, embossing, debossing and spot UV all depend on a flat, unbroken surface for their registration to hold. A seam or a tight wrapped edge breaks that surface, so a highlight placed there risks losing registration; a highlight placed on a flat panel face does not carry that risk. Deciding which finish sits where is part of planning the artwork, not an afterthought once the design is set.
Finish and the order terms
The finish set for a wrapped box runs from matt and gloss lamination through foil stamping, embossing, debossing and spot UV, with soft touch, silk lamination and metallic or holographic papers where the build supports them. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method. Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. Orders start from 100 units. There are no setup fees. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free.
When this is not the right box
A natural, unprinted wrap is Kraft Rigid Boxes‘s own question, not this one. A clean wrap in one flat colour, with nothing continuous to plan around, belongs on Single Colour Rigid Boxes instead. I will say that there were some things about our final product that we were not happy with, such as creasing of the graphics and images were not full bleed on the cover of our boxes like they were supposed to be. ACP UK was not able to fix the problems on the boxes due to our tight timeline, so we ended up with a product that were were a little less than satisfied with. Thomas was so helpful and responsive! We needed custom folders made and looked at various different companies, but ACP UK ended up offering the best quality and price. This was our first time ordering, but Thomas guided us through every step and even sent us videos of sample folders and mockups of our final product so we could proceed with confidence. This is the first time I have used this company, Thomas assisted me with answering queries and the design of the personalised boxes I was after. Thomas was helpful and knowledgeable and very accommodating in changing design details, always responding quickly with a new version to review. Thomas is very eager to help make sure your packaging is right for you. Sometimes a little too eager chasing for decisions but at least you know someone is handling your enquiry and its not sitting on the bottom of a pile being ignored as I've had experience of elsewhere.
Product takes about 3 weeks to be delivered so can't comment on actual product as yet.

What is the minimum order for Custom Printed Rigid Boxes?
Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval.
Are Custom Printed Rigid Boxes recyclable?
An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.
