“Custom printed” on a tube usually gets treated as one design decision. On a telescoping build, it’s genuinely two, because the lid and the body aren’t one piece.
Why the lid is its own print decision
A telescoping tube slides a separate outer lid down over the base, two pieces that are produced and printed independently rather than one folded structure. That’s true whatever the design ends up being. A design carried straight across from body to lid reads as one continuous piece once assembled. A lid printed in a plain, contrasting colour, or left unprinted altogether, reads as a deliberate two-tone finish instead. Neither is more correct than the other. What matters is that the choice gets made on purpose, since leaving it unspecified means guessing at how two separately produced pieces are meant to sit together. A single continuous-wall tube, with no separate lid to speak of, never raises this question at all.
Working out which approach suits the brief
Carrying one design across both pieces suits a brand wanting the tube to read as a single, unbroken object once it’s closed. A contrasting lid earns its keep where opening the tube should itself feel like a reveal, a real colour or finish change happening right as the lid lifts away. A plain, unprinted lid is the simplest route where budget or timeline favours it, and costs nothing in how the body itself reads. Telling us which effect matters more settles which route the specification takes.
Turning that decision into a finished order
Offset, digital and screen printing are the confirmed methods here, picked to suit the quantity and the artwork itself. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method. The finish set includes matt and gloss lamination, foil stamping, embossing, debossing and spot UV, available subject to specification, and can be applied differently to lid and body where a contrast is what’s wanted. Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. On a two-part build, seeing lid and body together on that mock-up is genuinely worth doing before committing, since a coordinated or contrasting effect is hard to judge from either piece alone. Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. There are no setup fees. UK delivery is free.

This was the first time I had a custom box made and Daniel made it a pleasant, efficient experience. Do the lid and body have to be printed with the same design?
No. They're produced as separate pieces on a telescoping build, so matching, contrasting or leaving one plain are all genuine options.
How do I tell you which option I want?
Just say so plainly when you send your artwork: matching, a named contrast colour or finish, or plain. Naming it up front avoids a default assumption getting built into the mock-up before you've actually seen it.
Can the lid carry a different finish, not just a different colour?
Yes. Foil stamping, embossing or a different lamination can sit on the lid alone, since it's produced independently from the body. It's a genuine way to mark the lid out without changing the underlying colour.
What is the minimum order for Custom Printed Tube Packaging?
Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval.
