How the fold-out actually holds together
Each tier is scored and hinged at the point where it meets the base, so it swings open rather than lifting away entirely. What keeps the whole thing closed until that moment is usually an outer wrap, ribbon, or sleeve rather than a lid in the ordinary sense; the box itself has no separate lid to remove. A thin cardboard tier tends to go limp at the hinge after enough opening and closing. A heavier or rigid board keeps its shape for longer under the same handling, which is a real, checkable trade-off rather than a marketing point. A one-time ceremonial opening asks less of the material than a keepsake meant to be handled and reopened repeatedly.
Compartments within each tier are cut to the item going in it, a photograph, a folded note, or a small object, the same dimension-matched approach used on every insert-based box ACP builds.
Print, finish and what’s included
Offset, digital and screen printing are available, subject to specification. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method. The finish set includes matt and gloss lamination, foil stamping, embossing, debossing and spot UV, available for each tier and the outer surface. Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. A multi-tier fold-out is genuinely harder to picture flat than a normal box, so the mock-up earns its keep before committing to a run. Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free. There are no setup fees.

Our experience with ACP UK was overall good. They were able to work with our extremely tight timeline and were very responsive and communicative. I will say that there were some things about our final product that we were not happy with, such as creasing of the graphics and images were not full bleed on the cover of our boxes like they were supposed to be. ACP UK was not able to fix the problems on the boxes due to our tight timeline, so we ended up with a product that were were a little less than satisfied with. They offered us a discount on our next order. I think their pricing overall was fair and competitive. We may use them on project in the future again if we are able to see an image of the boxes before they go into full production like we were told that they would do last time.

What is the minimum order for Explosion Boxes?
Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free.
How many tiers does an explosion box typically have?
That depends on what you're presenting and how much sequence you want in the reveal; there's no single fixed count. Describe the items and the number of separate reveals you're after, and a tier count follows from that.
Can each tier be a different size or shape from the others?
Yes. Tiers don't need to match each other; a larger base tier holding a bigger item and smaller upper tiers for photos or notes is a common layout. Each tier's compartment is cut to what actually goes in it rather than forced into a uniform size across the box.
Are Explosion Boxes recyclable?
An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.
