A parcel doesn’t need a box just because a box is the default. Plenty of what ships every day only needs a sealed, lightweight covering that survives the journey, and a poly mailer is built for exactly that gap.
A poly mailer replaces a box, it doesn’t shrink one
A poly mailer is a flat, flexible film bag rather than a folded carton, built for items that don’t need structural support: clothing, soft goods, and most standard ecommerce items that can tolerate a bit of flexing in transit. Where a product is fragile, heavy, or needs to keep a fixed shape in the parcel network, a box or a padded mailer is the better fit, not this format.
The self-seal strip is the only assembly step
Closing the bag is a peel-and-stick adhesive strip rather than tape, staples or heat-sealing equipment, so packing doesn’t need anything beyond pressing the flap down. That suits a high-volume packing bench where speed matters. It’s worth knowing this closure isn’t built as a tamper-evident feature on its own, though, so mention that requirement upfront if it genuinely applies rather than assuming the standard strip covers it.
Film thickness is the real variable behind water and tear resistance
How well a poly mailer resists water and tearing depends on the film thickness and construction chosen for that order, not something every poly mailer automatically has to the same degree. A heavier-gauge film generally copes better with puncture and abrasion during handling than a lighter gauge does, so the specification is set by what’s inside and how far it needs to travel, not fixed across every order. Colour and opacity are also a specification choice: an opaque or coloured film keeps the contents hidden in transit, where a clear or lighter film does not, which matters more for some products than others. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method.

I will say that there were some things about our final product that we were not happy with, such as creasing of the graphics and images were not full bleed on the cover of our boxes like they were supposed to be. ACP UK was not able to fix the problems on the boxes due to our tight timeline, so we ended up with a product that were were a little less than satisfied with. They offered us a discount on our next order. I think their pricing overall was fair and competitive. I was assisted by Frank. Overall I had a satisfactory experience, and in the end my boxes turned out really nice. The stock is nice, and Frank was really helpful getting them where they needed to be. The first iterations the boxes were sized wrong, but once we got it figured out and I got the art I requested some samples before moving forward. They printed off some samples, and they were great minus a slight adjustment to the perforation. They made the adjustment and got the final order out and so far I am pleased with the quality, especially for the price. The only thing that would have bumped this up to a 5 star review would have been a little bit quicker overall experience, part of which was my fault.

What size poly mailer do I need?
Sizing follows the product going inside with a little room to spare for the seal, rather than one fixed size across every order. Tell us the item's dimensions and we can match a size to it.
Do I need printing, or does the colour of the bag do the job?
Either can work depending on what needs to show. A coloured or opaque film covers the contents without printing at all, while a clear or lighter film usually needs a printed layer if anything needs covering or branding on the outside.
What is the minimum order for Poly Mailer Bags?
Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval.
Are poly mailer bags recyclable?
Only through the right collection point, and that point usually isn't the kerbside bin. An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative, and a poly mailer sits outside that comparison entirely since it's a plastic film, not board. A growing number of large supermarkets now run a front-of-store take-back point for exactly this kind of soft plastic. That's generally the better option. A household paper or plastics bin is more likely to reject the bag outright or let it contaminate whatever it's mixed into. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.
