A zipper mylar bag has two closures, and they are used in a fixed order. One is a heat seal, opened once, by tearing. The other is the press zip, used again and again, by whoever buys it.
The seal you make after filling
A bag that is going to be filled has to reach you with one end still open, and once it is full that end is heat-sealed shut. That seal is made at your end, on your bench or your packing line, so a heat sealer is part of filling zipper bags, not an extra. Where the open end is the strip above the zip, leave the zip open while you press out what air you can. Then close the zip and seal the strip, which is the seal your customer later tears away. The notch, then the zip
The small notch cut into the side edge sits level with the sealed strip. Your customer tears across from the notch, which takes the sealed strip off and leaves the zip below it ready to use. From then on the zip is the closure. Mylar Food Storage Bags goes into what a zip does each time the bag is reopened, and what it cannot do.
Standing up, lying flat, or hanging
A stand-up pouch has a folded gusset in its base that opens out as the bag fills, so a filled bag stands on a shelf with its front facing out. A flat pouch has no gusset and lies flat, which suits a smaller fill, a sachet or a bag that goes into a box or a postal envelope. A hang hole punched through the top strip lets the bag hang from a peg on a display stand. Because the hole sits in the strip above the zip, it goes when the bag is torn open, and the zip below is left whole.
Film, print and food
The bag is built from layers of PET film, often with aluminium foil, chosen for what goes inside, and the protection it gives depends on that construction. Offset, digital or screen printing puts your design on the film, with the process chosen for each order. Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production.

Our experience with ACP UK was overall good. They were able to work with our extremely tight timeline and were very responsive and communicative. I will say that there were some things about our final product that we were not happy with, such as creasing of the graphics and images were not full bleed on the cover of our boxes like they were supposed to be. ACP UK was not able to fix the problems on the boxes due to our tight timeline, so we ended up with a product that were were a little less than satisfied with. They offered us a discount on our next order. I think their pricing overall was fair and competitive. We may use them on project in the future again if we are able to see an image of the boxes before they go into full production like we were told that they would do last time.

I was assisted by Frank. Overall I had a satisfactory experience, and in the end my boxes turned out really nice. The stock is nice, and Frank was really helpful getting them where they needed to be. The first iterations the boxes were sized wrong, but once we got it figured out and I got the art I requested some samples before moving forward. They printed off some samples, and they were great minus a slight adjustment to the perforation. They made the adjustment and got the final order out and so far I am pleased with the quality, especially for the price. The only thing that would have bumped this up to a 5 star review would have been a little bit quicker overall experience, part of which was my fault.

What is the minimum order for Zipper Mylar Bags?
Orders start from 100 units.
Do I need my own heat sealer?
Yes. The open end of the bag is sealed by you after filling. On a top-filled bag, leaving that strip unsealed means the zip is the only closure from the moment the bag leaves you, and there is nothing for the customer to tear open.
Are zipper mylar bags recyclable?
An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally. A zipper pouch is a layered film, usually with foil, so it is at the laminated end of that line. We can explain the general recyclability considerations of the selected material and finishing options, so you can make accurate claims on your own packaging.
