A box holding one type of produce is a simpler structural problem than most packaging pages let on: pick a size, add ventilation, done. A box holding several types at once is a different job. Apples, courgettes and a punnet of berries don’t move the same way in transit. Left to share a single undivided space, the heaviest item in the box ends up bruising everything softer than it.
What actually keeps a mixed load intact
A die-cut divider splits the cavity into sections, so a firmer vegetable and a softer fruit each sit in their own space rather than sharing one and shifting against each other under the vibration of a delivery run. That’s a physical separation the insert performs, not a claim about how long anything stays fresh, since freshness depends on far more than the box. Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. That matters here specifically because produce sits directly against the board rather than behind any wrapping. Ventilation is still available across the structure the same way it would be on a single-crop box, cut where it suits the produce going in rather than fixed to one pattern.
Corrugated, kraft or rigid board are all available depending on the weight the box needs to carry and how far it’s travelling. Printing runs across the outer panels for branding, farm name or produce labelling, alongside the structural work the box itself is doing. Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method.

First time working with ACP UK, but surprisingly worked out well. They handled the design and I believe I got the packages under 10 days, both times, as promised. I ordered a prototype first, asked them to make changes, and all was implemented well. I've also worked with another company in parallel, that was much slower. The price here is better as well. I don't know where the team operates from but they are doing excellent job!

Can the divider be sized for a specific mix of produce, or is it a fixed layout?
It's cut to your specification. Describe the produce mix and roughly how it splits by weight or volume, and the divider is sized to that rather than a generic multi-purpose layout.
Does more ventilation mean less protection for softer produce?
Not on its own. Ventilation and the divider solve different problems: one manages airflow, the other keeps items from moving against each other. A softer item still sits in its own section regardless of how much ventilation the structure carries.
Are these boxes recyclable?
The board itself may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams when it's unlaminated rather than heavily laminated. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.
