Most cosmetic products do not need a rigid box. They need a good cardboard one. A folding carton is lighter, cheaper and fully recyclable, and with the right print it looks every bit as considered on a shelf. That is why cardboard is the material behind most of the beauty packaging you see. It is the sensible default, and for a brand watching its unit cost, it is usually the right call.
Cardboard cosmetic boxes that still look premium
Affordable does not have to mean cheap-looking. The base material is inexpensive, but the finish is where the box earns its keep. Full-colour print, a matt or soft-touch lamination, a spot UV logo, a touch of foil. Any of those lifts a cardboard box well beyond its cost. When to choose cardboard over rigid

I was assisted by Frank. Overall I had a satisfactory experience, and in the end my boxes turned out really nice. The stock is nice, and Frank was really helpful getting them where they needed to be. The first iterations the boxes were sized wrong, but once we got it figured out and I got the art I requested some samples before moving forward. They printed off some samples, and they were great minus a slight adjustment to the perforation. They made the adjustment and got the final order out and so far I am pleased with the quality, especially for the price. The only thing that would have bumped this up to a 5 star review would have been a little bit quicker overall experience, part of which was my fault.

I ordered a prototype first, asked them to make changes, and all was implemented well. I've also worked with another company in parallel, that was much slower. The price here is better as well. Is cardboard packaging recyclable?
Yes. A cardboard folding carton is fully recyclable, which is one of the main reasons it is the default choice for everyday cosmetic ranges.
Can a cardboard box still look premium?
Yes. The finish does the work. A matt or soft-touch lamination, spot UV or a touch of foil lifts a cardboard box well beyond the cost of the board.
When should I choose cardboard over rigid?
For everyday ranges, regular-purchase products and anywhere unit cost matters. Rigid suits gift sets, prestige launches and boxes sold on the unboxing.
What products suit a cardboard cosmetic box?
Most of them. Lipsticks, creams, palettes, perfumes and gift sets all work in a folding carton with the right size and insert.
What is the minimum order and turnaround?
100 units per design. Production takes 6 to 8 business days after you approve a video of your physical sample, with free UK delivery.
