A shirt box that looks the same size as any other box can still make a shirt fold differently once it’s inside, and that difference is what shows up as a crease once the shirt comes back out.

Depth decides the fold, and the fold decides the crease

A shallow, wide box lets a shirt lie in with the sleeves folded back just once and the body folded in half, the fold pattern most shoppers expect from a retail shirt. A narrower or deeper box forces an extra fold to make the shirt fit, and every fold added purely to fit the box becomes a line the fabric remembers once it’s unfolded. Getting the depth and width right for the shirt going in, rather than reaching for a generic box size, is what keeps the fold count down to what the garment actually needs. Heavier or stiffer fabrics hold a crease more readily than a light, soft one, so the same box that works fine for a jersey T-shirt can leave a sharper line on a structured dress shirt.

Closures, windows and finish sit on top of that decision

Two-piece lift-off, tuck-end, magnetic and collapsible closures are all available, along with a window patch where showing the fabric or the fold itself helps at retail. None of that changes the depth-and-fold question above; it’s chosen once the box’s own proportions are settled.

The order terms, whichever depth is chosen

Pantone references and CMYK values can be used to manage colour consistency, subject to normal variation caused by the chosen board, ink, coating and production method. Orders start from 100 units. Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. There are no setup fees. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free.

Product FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about ordering, artwork, production, materials and delivery.

What is the minimum order for Shirt Boxes?

Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval.

Does the shirt need anything inside the box to stop it shifting once it's folded and packed?

Sometimes. A flat insert or a fold-guide card can hold the shirt in the position it was packed in, a separate detail from the box's own depth and width. It's worth raising if presentation on arrival matters as much as the fold itself.

Can the same box work for a short-sleeve and a long-sleeve shirt?

Not always. A longer sleeve often needs an extra fold-back to sit inside the same depth, so this is a detail to flag before the box is finalised rather than assumed to be the same.

Does adding a window cost more or slow production down?

No, it's folded into the same specification conversation as the rest of the order, not costed or timed as a separate item.
Are Shirt Boxes recyclable? An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.
