Pressed eyeshadow cracks. Drop a palette, or let it flex inside a loose box, and the pan shatters into powder before it reaches the customer. That is the one thing an eyeshadow box has to prevent. Everything else, the window, the closure, the print, comes after that. So we start with a fit that holds the pan flat and firm, then build the rest of the box around it.
Eyeshadow boxes that stop palettes cracking
A flat pan fails in two ways. It flexes, or it drops. We stop the flex with a snug fit and, on multi-pan palettes, an insert that supports each pan individually. We handle the drop with the right board weight for the palette size. A single-pan box can run on lighter stock. A twelve-shade palette needs rigid board underneath it, because the bigger the palette, the harder a corner knock hits the pans.
Eyeshadow palette boxes with a window
Colour is the whole pitch with eyeshadow. So most brands want the shades visible before the box is opened. A die-cut window does that. And the print around it has to keep the swatches honest, which is where Pantone matching earns its place, because a shade that looks one way on the box and another in the pan reads as a letdown at the till.

Single pans or full palettes
The box changes with the format. A single eyeshadow needs a small, snug carton and not much more. A palette is a different job. More weight, more pans to protect, and usually a magnetic or drawer closure so it opens like the product it holds. Tell us the pan count and layout, and we spec the board and insert to match before you approve a sample.
