A batch of identical small boxes for a whole occasion is one question. A single gift box for one gift is a different one, and the material is where that question actually gets answered.
Posted, or handed over in person
A box handed over in person only has to make it from one hand to another, so a lighter board is rarely a risk. Posted, the same box faces a rougher route: it travels unsupervised and gets stacked against other post, sometimes for a day or two before it reaches wherever it’s going. Corrugated construction is the material named for shipping and mailers specifically, worth choosing when the gift is genuinely going by post rather than into someone’s hands directly. A standard folding carton board suits the handover case, without paying for protection the short journey doesn’t need.
The kraft look, and what it actually costs
Kraft board’s natural brown base gives a gift a genuinely different, understated look. That same base also mutes printed colour, so bright or heavily saturated artwork reads differently on kraft than it would on a bright white board. Settling this ahead of the order avoids an unwelcome surprise once the print comes back. Where a gift’s presentation depends on precise, vivid colour, a standard printable board keeps that colour true. Where the natural, undyed look is the actual goal, kraft is the right pick.
Where a bigger spend earns its place
None of this is the only option available. A keepsake or a premium item sometimes needs more than a material choice can offer on its own, and that’s where a heavier, wrapped rigid construction becomes worth the extra spend. When this is not the right box

I will say that there were some things about our final product that we were not happy with, such as creasing of the graphics and images were not full bleed on the cover of our boxes like they were supposed to be. ACP UK was not able to fix the problems on the boxes due to our tight timeline, so we ended up with a product that were were a little less than satisfied with. They offered us a discount on our next order. I think their pricing overall was fair and competitive. The first iterations the boxes were sized wrong, but once we got it figured out and I got the art I requested some samples before moving forward. They printed off some samples, and they were great minus a slight adjustment to the perforation. They made the adjustment and got the final order out and so far I am pleased with the quality, especially for the price. The only thing that would have bumped this up to a 5 star review would have been a little bit quicker overall experience, part of which was my fault.

What is the minimum order for Small Gift Boxes?
Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval.
Can a kraft gift box still stand out, given kraft mutes printed colour?
Yes, just not through colour alone. Foil stamping, embossing or spot UV can be added over kraft to lift a logo or detail through contrast and texture instead, which often reads as more distinctive on an understated material than full colour would. Finish options are available subject to specification.
Does choosing corrugated for posting change the price or how long production takes?
No. Corrugated sits within the same standard minimum and turnaround as any other small gift box specification. The option that does carry a bigger spend is stepping up to a rigid construction, covered above.
Should I get a rigid box instead?
Worth considering for a keepsake or a genuinely premium item, where the extra weight and finish actually add to how special the gift feels on opening. It costs more than a standard small gift box, so it's worth reading what that spend actually buys before deciding.
Are Small Gift Boxes recyclable?
An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.
