A biscuit box has one job a lot of packaging does not: keeping something brittle in one piece. Biscuits stacked loose in a box knock against each other every time the box is tilted or dropped a few inches onto a shelf, and that is usually where the cracked corners and crumbs come from, not from the delivery itself.
A plain digestive survives most handling. An iced, layered or shortbread-style biscuit does not, because the decoration or the crumb structure is the weak point, not the biscuit’s edge. A tray or divider insert that holds each biscuit in a fixed position reduces the knocking that causes this, since the biscuit is no longer free to slide against its neighbours. Loose stacking in a plain box does not offer that support, whatever the box is printed with on the outside.
Biscuits absorb moisture from the air and lose their snap over time. A tuck-end carton that closes fully slows this down compared with an open tray, but it is not an airtight seal, and a printed outer carton on its own will not match a resealable pouch for long-term freshness. Where biscuits need to stay crisp for weeks rather than days, an inner liner or a wrapped format alongside the printed box is the safer combination.
A tuck-end carton is the most common choice, since it closes fully and stacks well on a shelf. A window box lets the biscuits be seen before purchase, which suits retail more than wholesale. Each is available depending on the specification, and the right one depends on whether the biscuits are stacked, layered flat, or individually wrapped inside.

An unlaminated kraft or paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative.
