Frosting height varies far more than the cake underneath it does. A light dusting or a modest swirl barely needs extra room; a tall piped design or a sculpted topper needs a lot more. Instead of committing to one fixed depth, this box is built around whichever of those your actual order is.
How the depth actually gets decided
There’s no published menu of set depths to pick from here. What matters is the height of the decoration above the cake case, and that figure is different for every order. As a rough guide: a light dusting needs the least extra room, a generous piped swirl needs noticeably more, and a stacked or sculpted topper needs the most, sometimes by a wide margin. Saying which of those is closest, even roughly, is what lets the box get specified correctly the first time. What stays the same regardless of depth

I was assisted by Frank. Overall I had a satisfactory experience, and in the end my boxes turned out really nice. The stock is nice, and Frank was really helpful getting them where they needed to be. The first iterations the boxes were sized wrong, but once we got it figured out and I got the art I requested some samples before moving forward. They printed off some samples, and they were great minus a slight adjustment to the perforation. They made the adjustment and got the final order out and so far I am pleased with the quality, especially for the price. The only thing that would have bumped this up to a 5 star review would have been a little bit quicker overall experience, part of which was my fault.

How do I know how deep my box needs to be?
Describe the decoration, not the cake: how far a swirl, topper or sculpted piece sits above the cupcake case. That's what the box gets built around, since there's no single depth that suits every order.
Is there a standard set of depths to choose from?
There's no published ladder of fixed sizes to pick from. The depth follows the actual decoration each time.
What if I already know I need exactly four inches?
Then 4 Inch Deep Cupcake Boxes answers that directly instead.
Can one order include boxes at different depths?
Yes. Each is specified to its own decoration height, so a mixed order isn't a problem.
What is the minimum order for deep cupcake boxes?
