A biscuit box has one job a lot of packaging does not: keeping something brittle in one piece. Biscuits stacked loose in a box knock against each other every time the box is tilted or dropped a few inches onto a shelf, and that is usually where the cracked corners and crumbs come from, not from the delivery itself.
Why biscuits crack in transit, and what actually reduces it
A plain digestive survives most handling. An iced, layered or shortbread-style biscuit does not, because the decoration or the crumb structure is the weak point, not the biscuit’s edge. A tray or divider insert, cut to your own biscuit’s size rather than a generic slot, holds each biscuit in a fixed position and reduces the knocking that causes this, since the biscuit is no longer free to slide against its neighbours. Loose stacking in a plain box does not offer that support, whatever the box is printed with on the outside. Orders for this insert start from 100 units, the same as the box itself, with no separate setup fee for adding it.
Keeping biscuits from going soft
Biscuits absorb moisture from the air and lose their snap over time. A tuck-end carton that closes fully slows this down compared with an open tray, but it is not an airtight seal, and a printed outer carton on its own will not match a resealable pouch for long-term freshness. Where biscuits need to stay crisp for weeks rather than days, an inner liner or a wrapped format alongside the printed box is the safer combination.
Box styles for biscuits
A tuck-end carton is the most common choice, since it closes fully and stacks well on a shelf. A window box lets the biscuits be seen before purchase, which suits retail more than wholesale. A sleeve over a tray works well for a stacked, single layer of biscuits where presentation matters as much as protection. The right style depends on whether the biscuits are stacked, layered flat, or individually wrapped inside. Stock runs from natural kraft through white paperboard to rigid board, with matt or gloss lamination, spot UV, foil or embossing available depending on the specification.
Design support is free, and your logo and branding are set onto the dieline as part of that. A digital 3D mock-up is free before bulk production, so you can see how the chosen box style and finish actually look before committing to a run.
Food-contact suitability and where the responsibility sits
Board and coating can be selected to suit direct or indirect food contact depending on the specification. Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production, and allergen and nutritional labelling stays your business’s responsibility.
When this is not the right box
This carton holds biscuits in position and slows moisture for the length of a normal shelf or delivery window. It is not a long-term storage solution. For biscuits that need to stay crisp for several weeks rather than days, pair it with an inner liner or a wrapped format, since a printed outer carton on its own will not do that job alone.
Are biscuit boxes recyclable?
An unlaminated kraft or paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. A plastic window or a foil finish will change that, so recyclability depends on the full make-up of the box you choose. We can talk you through the considerations for your specification.

The first iterations the boxes were sized wrong, but once we got it figured out and I got the art I requested some samples before moving forward. They printed off some samples, and they were great minus a slight adjustment to the perforation. They made the adjustment and got the final order out and so far I am pleased with the quality, especially for the price. I love that I don’t have to buy a bunch of different sized boxes. it’s the perfect size. It was so easy to assemble once I figured it out. Im shocked how sturdy it feels. I will be adding tape on it before I ship them just incase they unfold. I will definitely order another case of these boxes as these come out to less.

Will my biscuits crack in the box?
Loose biscuits stacked with nothing to hold them can knock against each other and chip, especially anything iced or layered. A tray or divider insert holds each biscuit in place and cuts down on that movement, which is worth specifying for anything more delicate than a plain biscuit.
Does the box keep biscuits fresh for longer?
A fully closing carton slows moisture getting in compared with an open tray, but it is not airtight. For biscuits that need to stay crisp for several weeks, an inner liner or a wrapped format inside the printed box is the safer option.
What box style suits stacked biscuits versus a single layer?
A tuck-end carton suits a stack, since it closes on all sides. A sleeve over a tray suits a single, presented layer where the biscuits are meant to be seen as much as protected.
Can I get a window to show the biscuits?
Yes, a die-cut window with a film patch is available, which suits retail shelf packaging more than bulk wholesale cartons.
