A child does not choose this box. An adult does, working out how much one child actually eats, how roughly that child will handle whatever they are given, and what the box needs to say to be worth printing at all. None of that turns on colour, which is where the rest of this preset-theme family starts. It turns on the fact that the person holding the box is a child, not the person buying it.
How many children the box actually needs to feed
Adults often share a platter. Children usually get one box each, and that box only needs to hold what one child eats in one sitting, not a spread built for grazing. A smaller box costs less board and looks better half full than a large one does, so it is worth deciding upfront whether you are packing individual portions or a smaller number of larger boxes to split between a group. Box size is confirmed against your headcount and what is going inside at quote stage, since a sandwich-and-fruit portion needs less depth than one built around a slice of cake.
What holds up when a child is doing the handling
A box handed to an adult usually gets carried flat and opened carefully. A box handed to a child gets gripped, swung, stacked on a lap and occasionally dropped. A heavier board grade resists that kind of handling better than a lightweight alternative, and it is the board weight, not the print or the finish, that does that work. The right grade is chosen around how the boxes will actually be carried and stored on the day, so it is worth mentioning at quote stage if boxes are going straight into children’s hands rather than staying on a serving table.
Printing a name, a theme or a message a child will notice
A box printed with a child’s name, a chosen party theme or a simple illustration reads very differently once it is sitting in front of the child it was made for. Artwork is set onto the dieline as part of design support, and a digital 3D mock-up shows exactly how a printed name or theme sits on the finished box before anything goes to bulk production. Keep the brief to what is actually being celebrated: a name, an age, a colour scheme or a general theme works reliably. A specific licensed character or franchise is not a confirmed, standing option, so it is worth checking with us before building a design brief around one.
Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. It shows how a child’s name or theme actually sits on the finished box, before anything goes to bulk production. Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free. There are no setup fees.
Who’s responsible for what’s actually in the box
The board decides how the packaging performs. It has no say over what goes inside it. Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production, whatever coating or finish the specification calls for. What that confirmation does not cover is the food itself: allergen content, ingredient choice and the age-appropriateness of what is being served stay with whoever is preparing it, not with the packaging.
When a shared platter beats individual boxes
If the plan is one spread in the middle of the table rather than a box per child, a platter format suits that better than this one does. This box is built around a single portion, with a lid that closes over it, which is exactly the wrong shape for food meant to stay out and be shared. An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Our experience with ACP UK was overall good. They were able to work with our extremely tight timeline and were very responsive and communicative. I will say that there were some things about our final product that we were not happy with, such as creasing of the graphics and images were not full bleed on the cover of our boxes like they were supposed to be. ACP UK was not able to fix the problems on the boxes due to our tight timeline, so we ended up with a product that were were a little less than satisfied with. How many children does one box typically feed?
One box is sized for a single child's portion by default, since parties usually hand out one box per child rather than a shared spread. If your event mixes ages or appetites, you can order a mix of smaller and larger boxes in the same run rather than picking one size for everyone.
Can we put our child's name or a party theme on every box?
Yes, that is one of the most common requests for this box. Send the name, message or theme you want, and design support prepares the artwork, with a free 3D mock-up so you can see exactly how it sits on the box before anything is printed in bulk.
Can these boxes be used for a school event, not just a birthday?
Yes. The same box works for a classroom party, a school fete or any event where food is being portioned out to a group of children, not only a birthday at home.
What happens if the food itself has allergens?
Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production, but the box does not decide what is safe for the children eating from it. The artwork layout can reserve clear panels for any information the food is required to display, though the brand or its regulatory adviser remains responsible for confirming that information is accurate and complete.
What is the minimum order for kids party food boxes?
Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free.
