Charcuterie is meant to be seen and, ideally, not sweated on. A box built for it has to balance those two things: enough visibility to make the presentation worth paying for, without trapping enough moisture against cured meat or cheese to leave it looking worse by the time it’s opened.
The box itself is a standard tuck-end or auto-lock carton in most cases. What actually varies is the lid: a film-covered window, the same die-cut-plus-film option used across ACP’s food range, shows the contents without opening the box at all, which suits a gift or retail presentation where the box stays closed until it’s given or sold. A genuine ventilation cut is a different decision: an actual opening in the board rather than one covered by film, letting air move instead of just letting light through. The trade-off runs both ways. A sealed window keeps out dust and handling marks but does nothing for condensation building up inside; an open vent helps with that but exposes the contents to the same open-shelf risks an uncovered aperture carries on any food box. Cured meat can release a little fat as it sits, too, and whether a specific liner is worth adding for that isn’t a default ACP confirms for every specification, so ask directly if what you’re packing is particularly oily. Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. That applies whichever of the three options, sealed, windowed or vented, the box ends up using.
A single-serving charcuterie box, built for one person or a couple, is a genuinely different design brief to a large grazing or sharing board built to hold enough for a table. Both use the same materials and the same basic construction. What changes is the internal footprint and, often, whether a die-cut insert is worth adding to keep something like cheese away from anything wetter, olives or a chutney pot among them. Getting the rough headcount and contents right before the size is chosen saves a second conversation later.
Gift orders, catering companies plating up for an event, and delis or farm shops selling a ready-made board all use the same basic box for different reasons. A gift order usually leans on the window and the finish. For catering, how many boards stack in a delivery run tends to matter more than either. A retail specification is different again: it has to leave room for ingredient and allergen information, the kind a shopper expects to see before buying rather than just an attractive finish. None of that changes the underlying structure, only what gets specified around it.
Orders start from 100 units. Some specialist charcuterie-packaging suppliers set their minimum far higher, several thousand units in at least one case, aimed at an established producer rather than a smaller or newer operation. Design support is free. That covers adapting your artwork and any insert or vent layout to the dieline. A digital 3D mock-up is free. It shows the finished window or vent placement before anything goes to production. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free. There are no setup fees. An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. A film-covered window adds a second material to that question, the same as it does on every other windowed box on this site; an open, uncovered vent doesn’t, since it’s cut from the board itself rather than covered with anything.
Three related pages cover what this one doesn’t: a fully open tray with no lid decision at all (Cardboard Food Trays), an open base built around a window rather than a lid (Food Platter Boxes With Window), and every other format ACP makes (Custom Food Boxes).

Clear answers about ordering, artwork, production, materials and delivery.
Start from how long the box sits before it's opened, not just what looks better on the shelf. A quick-turnaround gift rarely has time to develop condensation, so a window alone is often fine; something that sits for days before opening leans the decision toward a vent instead. Tell us the timeline and we can help you weigh it properly.
That depends on portion count more than anything else, so start there rather than guessing at dimensions. If you need both a single-serving option and a sharing size in the same range, they can usually be ordered together in one run instead of as two separate specifications.

Not as standard, and it isn't a use we've confirmed the material for. If the charcuterie itself needs to be chilled or frozen before the box is opened, ask us directly rather than assuming a standard paperboard specification covers it.
Yes, and a retail order is usually the one where the label layout matters most, since it has to carry more than just a logo. Beyond that, nothing about ordering changes: the same minimum and lead time apply whether it's a single gift run or a standing retail order.
