Custom rigid food packaging built on a genuine greyboard core, printed to your brand for chocolates, hampers and other gift-format food. Orders start from 100 units.
Most food packaging is folding carton, not rigid, and that’s the right call for cereal, snacks, frozen food and most takeaway. Rigid board is the deliberate exception, chosen when a food product is being bought as a gift rather than picked up off a shelf for immediate use.
“Rigid” gets used loosely across this category. A genuinely rigid box is built on a solid greyboard core with a printed paper wrap, arrives pre-assembled, and doesn’t collapse flat the way a folding carton does. Thick cardstock or corrugated board can feel sturdy without being this; the core construction is what earns the word, not the thickness alone.
Chocolates, hampers, gourmet confectionery and other gift-format food benefit from a box that feels permanent and worth keeping, since the box itself is part of what’s being given. Everyday or high-volume food doesn’t get the same benefit from that cost and weight, which is exactly why folding carton stays the industry default for most of the category.
The solid core resists crushing and holds its shape under stacking better than folding carton does. That’s a real, structural difference, not a guarantee: a rigid box can still be damaged by rough enough handling, and nothing about the construction makes it indestructible.
Board and coating can be selected to suit direct or indirect food contact depending on the specification. Food-contact material suitability is confirmed for the specific material before production. Allergen and nutritional labelling stays your business’s responsibility.
Orders start from 100 units. Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free, so you can see the construction and print before anything goes to production. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free. There are no setup fees. Rigid construction involves more stages than folding carton, so a genuinely complex specification is worth raising early in the conversation rather than assuming it fits the standard timeline unchanged. An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Rigid stock adds a separate consideration on top of that: it generally bonds at least two materials together rather than using one continuous board, and how easily a facility separates them, not just what either material is on its own, is what actually determines how much of the box gets recycled versus sent to general waste.
For rigid construction already narrowed to a round shape, Round Macaron Boxes has that detail worked out. Premium finishing and branding on a material other than rigid board belongs on Luxury Food Packaging Boxes. Every other food box format is listed under Custom Food Boxes.

A solid greyboard core with a printed paper wrap. It arrives pre-assembled and doesn't collapse flat, unlike folding carton or thick cardstock that can feel similar without being built the same way.
Usually not. Folding carton is the practical default for high-volume or everyday food, and rigid board's cost and weight suit gift-format food better, where the box itself adds to what's being given.
It resists crushing and holds its shape better than folding carton, but nothing about a rigid construction makes it indestructible. Tell us how it'll be shipped and we can talk through what the specification needs to handle.
