A Christmas truffle box gets judged before anyone tastes what is inside it. It is handed over, looked at, and opened in front of people. That asks more of it than a box only has to manage sitting on a shelf.
Holding the pieces still
A truffle is soft, usually coated, and marks easily. It is also round and smooth, so it rolls at the smallest nudge. The damage almost never happens on impact. It happens because the piece was free to move a few millimetres, repeatedly, for the length of a journey.
So the layout starts from the count. Six truffles in a box built for six sit in their own cavities and stay there. The same six in a box built for eight arrive scuffed against each other. Die-cut inserts are made to the truffle’s own measurements, which is what makes a fixed position possible at all. A divider that lifts out lets one structure carry a different count between runs, so one box can serve several piece counts instead of needing a different box for each.
The same insert that protects also presents. Truffles seated in neat, even rows read as a considered gift the moment the lid comes off, which counts for more on a box opened in front of people than on one emptied in a kitchen. A window can put that arrangement on show before the box is opened at all, where the design wants it; a fully closed rigid or folding carton keeps the reveal for the opening instead. Which of the two suits depends on how the box is given rather than on the truffle.
What the box cannot do is keep the chocolate cool. No insulation or temperature figure is confirmed for any of these materials, so a box holds position, shields from handling and light, and leaves the storage and transport temperature to be managed elsewhere. Chocolate blooms and softens when it is warm, and no paperboard changes that. Anyone claiming otherwise about a paper box is overselling it.
The approval date is the one to plan from
Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. That figure covers production alone. Design and approval come before it, and getting the boxes to you comes after it, so both fall either side of that figure rather than inside it. Christmas is the rare deadline that does not move, so the date to plan from is the one the boxes must be in hand, counted backwards through all three stretches rather than forwards from when production could start.
Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. Orders start from 100 units. UK delivery is free. There are no setup fees.
The seasonal version is usually the same box with different artwork. Where a truffle box already exists for the rest of the year, Christmas becomes a print change on a known structure rather than a fresh specification, which is the quicker route when the date is close.

How many truffles should the box be built for?
Whatever count you actually sell, not a round number near it. A cavity layout only holds pieces still when the count matches, so a box built for six protects six and lets four rattle.
Will the box stop the chocolate melting?
No, and nothing in paperboard will. Temperature is managed in storage and transit; the box handles position, handling and light.
What if I have left it close to Christmas?
The production window is fixed and cannot be compressed. The room to move is in the design and sign-off before it, not in the build itself, so the earlier the artwork is settled the more of the calendar is left for everything that follows.
We ran a Christmas box last year. Does it have to be redesigned?
No. The structure is already approved, so only the new artwork needs signing off, which is the shorter conversation of the two.
What is the minimum order for Christmas truffle boxes?
Orders start from 100 units. Standard production takes 6 to 8 business days after approval. UK delivery is free.
