Ask four suppliers what a cardboard food box is and the answers do not agree. The first replies with a list of other products. A second sells printed cartons in a handful of shapes. A trade supplier ships export cartons and meat boxes to butchers. A fourth ranks on the term with a site that files food boxes as a category and then says nothing more about food.

They are all describing something real, which is the problem. The phrase names a material and a use, and between them those cover most of a food catalogue. It is a heading, and a heading is not a specification.

An unlaminated paperboard construction may be easier to process through suitable paper-recycling streams than a heavily laminated alternative. Final recyclability depends on the full material and finishing specification and the facilities available locally.

Our experience with ACP UK was overall good. They were able to work with our extremely tight timeline and were very responsive and communicative. I will say that there were some things about our final product that we were not happy with, such as creasing of the graphics and images were not full bleed on the cover of our boxes like they were supposed to be. ACP UK was not able to fix the problems on the boxes due to our tight timeline, so we ended up with a product that were were a little less than satisfied with. They offered us a discount on our next order. I think their pricing overall was fair and competitive. We may use them on project in the future again if we are able to see an image of the boxes before they go into full production like we were told that they would do last time.

They made the adjustment and got the final order out and so far I am pleased with the quality, especially for the price. The cost of the boxes was less than other suppliers. I will say the boxes are a bit on the flimsy side, not super sturdy but perfect for my needs. I will definitely use them again in the future.

Is printing compulsory?
No. A plain box is a normal order and the same specification questions apply to it. Where the print is the actual question, Custom Printed Food Boxes covers how far to take a design.
What can the boxes actually be made in?
Available options include paperboard, kraft, corrugated and rigid constructions, with printing and finishing selected around the product and desired appearance.
Is cardboard suitable for chilled or frozen food?
Cold-chain performance is not something these boards carry a rating for, so the page makes no claim about it. Flag a cold chain at the outset and it shapes the whole specification.
What comes free with an order?
Design support is free. A digital 3D mock-up is free. There are no setup fees.
What is the minimum order for cardboard food boxes?
